Computerworld's Green IT Symposium, is seeking IT user-organization case study submissions for its Green IT Awards Program.

Eligible nominees are exclusively IT end-user organizations. Nominations of IT end-user organizations are accepted from IT users themselves, their public relations representatives, or vendors on behalf of their IT end-user customers. Multiple submissions of case studies describing different deployments per IT end-user/organization will be considered.

Deadline for Receipt of Submissions–Via this Online Process: Friday, August 1, 2008.

Five finalists in each category will be recognized at Computerworld's Green IT Sumposium on September 18, 2008, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, DC. The top honoree in each category will be recognized on the main stage during the Green IT Symposium Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony. All finalists will be recognized on the event website, in an event press release, and may be featured in a special supplement of Computerworld magazine.

The business and economic impact of green IT initiatives. The convergence of pressures to reduce IT operational costs and the need to be more energy efficient presents new opportunities. The economics of these changes resulting in positive ROI are should be identified here.

Best Practices in Energy Efficient Computing
Highlight challenges, initiatives and improvements in energy consumption and a transition to sustainable computing models. Enterprise-wide efforts should be included in this category.

Green IT in the Data Center
This category focuses solely on data center-based challenges, initiatives and solutions to become greener in this important operational area for IT management. All data center and virtualization initiatives may be included here.

Reducing IT Complexity Increases Green IT
Reducing global complexity in IT and implementing technology improvements enterprise-wide is a major challenge. This category will highlight best practices in reducing technology complexity that also helps green IT initiatives.

IT Leadership in Embracing Change with Green IT: Corporate Responsibility
This category focuses on IT leadership proactively taking on the challenge to implement green IT. Cooperative efforts within the corporation should be shown where IT is making a socially responsible effort while maintaining an agile and sustainable computing enterprise. Environmental benefits where it leads to a positive competitive advantage may also be included here.
